Abstract

Generally, syringe type dispensing system is used in automated clinical laboratory instrument. But this system has contamination problem like "carry over" in dispensing or mixing process. In this regard, nanoliter-level dispensing system enabling non-contact is proposed by controlling high speed solenoids valves. In the present dispensing system, pressurized air transfers liquids from a reservoir to nozzles through tube via high speed solenoid valves, thus injecting liquid droplets into a well. The droplet volume depends on the air pressure, nozzle size and more importantly on the opening time of solenoid valves. This study reports dispensed droplet volume by each condition and phenomena at dispensing process.
