Abstract

In this study, numerical analysis about a simple two-dimensional(2D) photonic structure were carried out based on the Maxwell equation for effective design of photonic structures. A result of the developed numerical analysis was compared with the previous analysis result for the validity and it showed the similar result. Photonic band gap in a 2D photonic structure was simulated according to volume fraction, so the optimal volume fraction was investigated. Also, the characteristic of photonic band gap was evaluated by the dielectric constant.
