Abstract

Conventional fabrication techniques for nano-/microstructures had limitations such as complexity of their process and dif culty of mass-production. To overcome the limitations, studies on injection molding for nano-/ microstructures have been paid attention. Among the nano-/microstructures, the high-aspect-ratio structures have been utilized in functional surface, sensor and medical devices elds but the nano-/microstructures with high aspect ratio are hard to be manufactured by injection molding due to the mold comparable to high-aspect- ratio structures and the moldability of polymers. The present study proposed the fabrication method for mold core using the combination of mold inserts for injection molding of high-aspect-ratio microstructures. Using the fabricated mold core, the evaluation of moldability was carried out with respect to various thermoplastic polymers and the in uence of processing conditions was investigated for the fundamental study on replication of high-aspect-ratio microstructures.
